13" Cherry Cooking Spoon

This spoon is carved from New England cherry — a wood that rewards the carver for paying attention. The grain runs close and even, and the color deepens from a pale blush near the surface to a richer amber at the heart of the wood. Cherry darkens beautifully with age and use, so what you're holding now is just the beginning.
The handle follows the natural curve of the branch it came from — not forced straight, but allowed to arc the way the tree grew. Where the handle meets the bowl, two small carved ears flare out on either side. It's a subtle detail, but it gives the transition weight and intention. This is the kind of thing you notice after you've been using it for a while.
At 13 inches, it's sized for real cooking — long enough for a deep pot, with a wide, scooped bowl built for moving food. Folding, scraping, stirring, serving. The figuring in the bowl catches the light in a way you won't see until it's in your hands.
