This spoon is carved from New England maple — pale, close-grained, and clean. The wood is nearly all sapwood, that creamy white tone that maple shows before age and oil warm it up. There's a touch of spalting on the back of the bowl, just enough dark figuring to remind you this came from a real tree with a real history. Nothing dramatic — just a mark the wood made on its own.
The handle is carved with a hexagonal cross-section. Six flat faces, clean edges, and a taper that fits naturally in the hand. It's one of those things you don't notice until you pick it up and realize you don't want to put it down.
