Spalted Maple Cooking Spoon with Geometric Chip Carving

Signature Series

This 13" cooking spoon began as a storm-fallen maple limb gathered right here in Needham—wood that might have gone to waste, now shaped into a piece meant to last for years. The bowl features subtle but expressive spalted maple figure, warm golds and browns that shift as the light moves across the grain. Its long handle and flat-tipped bowl make it a versatile kitchen tool: ideal for scraping the bottom of a pan, stirring hearty sauces, or serving a finished dish.

A line of geometric chip carving runs along the top of the handle—clean, deliberate cuts that add understated ornamentation without overwhelming the natural character of the wood. The surface is finished by hand, burnished smooth with a river rock, and oiled to bring out depth and color while keeping it durable for everyday use.

A refined piece with thoughtful details—an excellent example of the Signature Series ethos.
