Spalted Walnut Cooker

This 13-inch Everyday Series cooking spoon is hand-carved from the lighter sapwood of a walnut branch, giving it a warm, pale tone that’s very different from the dark brown most people associate with walnut.

Its broad 3-inch bowl and substantial feel make it a sturdy spoon for stirring soups and stews, folding ingredients together, serving from the pot, or handling bigger batches in the kitchen. A small amount of walnut’s darker heartwood shows through on the underside of the bowl, adding a natural contrast.

Light spalting runs through both the bowl and handle, creating subtle lines and markings that make the spoon unmistakably one of a kind. A few small kolrosed stars on the handle add just a touch of hand-carved detail without taking away from its straightforward, hard-working feel.
